Notsuke Peninsula is a bird-watching spot where you can observe over 260 species of wild birds, and in winter, birdwatchers from all over the world visit in search of rare birds of prey.
From May to October, various flowers such as Japanese bush clover and daylilies bloom, creating beautiful scenery along the footpaths and roads of the Notsuke Peninsula.
The Utase-bune is a traditional fishing boat that uses wind power to pull nets and is used to catch Hokkaido shrimp in Notsuke Bay. It can only be seen for limited periods from mid-June to mid-July and from October to November.
During the harsh winter, the Ice Horizon Tour, where you walk across the frozen Notsuke Bay, is a special winter-only activity that can be experienced with a guide.
You can observe and experience under-ice net fishing in the frozen Notsuke Bay, and if you're lucky you may even be able to see Steller's sea eagles and white-tailed eagles that gather to fish.
