In winter, the Notsuke Peninsula is quiet and deserted, offering a special view of Hokkaido that can only be seen at this time of year. Notsuke Bay freezes over, and the entire area is transformed into a world of ice. During the harsh winter, many Steller's sea eagles and white-tailed eagles migrate from the north, and winter birds such as snow buntings and bush grosbeaks appear in the grasslands. This is why it is also a season that attracts many birdwatchers from both Japan and abroad.
In addition, on the winter-only "Ice Horizon Tour," you can walk on the frozen Notsuke Bay with a guide and experience a 360-degree panoramic view. The extraordinary scenery, which makes you feel as if you are walking on the sea, is an experience that can only be experienced on the Notsuke Peninsula in winter.
